A total of 20 youths from Mwala Sub County were selected to join the National Youth Service (NYS) in the ongoing country wide recruitment that kicked off on Monday.

The recruits, 13 male and seven female were picked in a rigorous exercise that was conducted at the Makutano DEB Primary grounds by NYS instructors led by Chief Inspector Mary Murunga.

Hundreds of youth turned up for the exercise.

Assistant County Commissioner at Mwala Sub County headquarters Patrick Muita termed the recruitment as free and fair.

Muita wished the successful candidates well and lauded the government for the programme that aims to empower young people with skills and knowledge.

“We thank the youth for turning out in large numbers for the recruitment. The programme gives them a chance to participate in nation building,” he said.

The recruits will report to NYS colleges in Gilgil and Naivasha for paramilitary training.
