It’s normal business in Nakuru after polls

Businesses are slowly resuming operations in Nakuru town after months of gruelling campaigns that culminated in the announcement of Deputy President Dr. William Ruto as the President-elect.

Residents of the newest city in the country are now urging both winners and losers of the just concluded polls to gracefully accept the results and allow Kenyans to move on.

They noted that the past few months presented anxious moments for majority of the small business owners, who experienced turbulent times, hence the need for ample time for them to heal and revert to normalcy.

Mary Njeri, a trader at the Wakulima Market expressed optimism that the nation would rise up and allow the economy to revitalize once more.

Njeri told KNA that as a small trader, she was dependant on her fruits and vegetables to provide food for her family, depending on the peaceful co-existence of all Kenyans.

She urged Kenyans from all walks of life to put aside their political differences and allow the nation to heal saying that each of the presidential candidates in the just concluded polls put up a spirited fight.

Francis Njomo, another vendor in Wakulima Market, commended the kind of maturity portrayed by Kenyans during and after the election.

He called for extension of the same spirit even in accepting the final presidential results, adding that there were legal avenues to be followed by any aggrieved contender, who feels not contented with the outcome.

Peter Mbithi, who is also a businessman in Nakuru’s Industrial area, expressed hope that the newly elected government will lay down good policies, friendly to common mwananchi, especially at this time when the economy is still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic.
