The Government has rolled out World Bank-funded agricultural projects, Kasipul Sub County Agriculture Officer, Hudson Nyamwange has said.
The project dubbed National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) will be implemented in the three wards of South Kasipul, West Kasipul and West Kamagak in Kasipul Constituency.
Speaking to KNA, the Agricultural Officer said the process of mobilizing residents for the programme has already taken off and the residents are being engaged in what he termed as participatory integrated community development process where everybody is being involved.
“Already various groups have been sent out to create awareness to the community and other stakeholders who will be involved in the project,” he said
The officer said they plan to carry out a crop based survey to know what kind of crops are available in the area, adding NARIGP as a World Bank project aims to increase agricultural productivity and profitability of targeted rural communities in selected counties in the country.
“After meeting the community and other stakeholders, we will now narrow down to what we call common interest groups who will be funded,”Nyamwange said.
He said each group after presenting their proposal will be funded an amount ranging from Sh. 50,000 to Sh. 300,000 depending on their project.
In Kasipul Sub County we have four value chains being promoted. We have dairy, indigenous poultry, cotton and tissue culture banana,” he said.
