Samburu Woman Representative Maison Leshoomo has conceded defeat following the concluded August 9 general elections.
Leshoomo, while addressing members of the fourth estate said that she acknowledged that she might not retain her seat which she has held for a decade.
She however thanked the Samburu electorate for voting and giving her the chance to represent them for the past decade.
“Politics belongs to the people and I want to thank them for giving me the opportunity to work for them and will still be available to them even in retirement,” she said.
The woman representative called on the newly elected leaders to maintain peace in Samburu as they steer the people forward.
Maison Leshoomo joined national politics after she was nominated as a member of parliament in 2007 and after the new constitution was promulgated in 2010, she successfully vied for the position of Samburu woman representative.
However, IEBC have not yet officially announced the woman representative position in Samburu County.
