Geoffrey Mulanya emerges victorious in Nambale Constituency

Independent Candidate Geoffrey Ekesa Mulanya is the newly elected MP for Nambale Constituency after defeating nine competitors in a hotly contested race.

Nambale parliamentary contest attracted 10 contestants, Geoffrey Ekesa Mulanya, emerged victorious after he garnerned 19,018 votes against a distant second competitor Kevin Okwara of ODM, who polled 9,659.

Isaac Omeri of DAP-K was third with 2048, Anthony Samba Buluma of ANC 1,400, Bernard Nandieki 852, Calistus Aleri 191, Desterio Odima 153, Timothy Munyekenye 134, Chrispinus Aleri 94, and Moses Chris Ouma 75.

The MP-elect thanked his competitors for holding peaceful campaigns urging them to work together to better the lives of Nambale residents.

“I take this opportunity to thank the people of Nambale for trusting me and voting for me overwhelmingly. I will reach out to all my competitors and work with them,” said Mulanya.

Nambale has 50,545 registered voters but only 34,092 voters turned out to vote representing a percentage of 67.5 percent.

Ken Rupia was elected as a Member of County Assembly for Namable township after polling 4,167 votes, Gardy Ijakaa retained his MCA position to represent Bukhayo North /Walatsi with 2,198 votes, while Bonventure Makokha was elected MCA of Bukhayo Central with 2,361 vote.

Eunice Wandera is the only elected female MCA in the entire Busia County. She will represent the people of Bukhayo East in the County Assembly after she garnered 2,761 votes beating eight male competitors for the MCA slot.
