IEBC calls for patience on election results

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has called for patience among anxious residents of Saku Constituency in Marsabit County as tallying of votes got underway.

The constituency Returning Officer Sanchan Lokadio said in a press briefing at the Moi Girls Secondary School hall tallying center, that the commission has so far been able to receive results from 45 polling stations.

Lokadio added that results from the other 36 polling stations were still trickling in and could stretch up to the next three hours from now.

The Returning Officer called on thousands of anxious residents and supporters of candidates for various seats mailing outside the tallying centre to be patient with the IEBC officials as all was being done to avail the results.

He cited poor network connectivity and rough roads as some of the major contributing factors. “The verification process of the results is also long and consumes a lot of time” he said.

Saku Constituency has 166,912 registered voters.
