Benard Kitur declared winner of the Member of Parliament Seat

Nandi Hills Constituency Returning Officer Jumah Mugwanga has officially declared United Democratic Alliance contestant Benard Kitur the winner of the Member of Parliament seat in this year’s polls.

Kitur garnered a total 23,503 votes, followed closely by sitting MP Alfred Keter who polled 18,037 votes. Vincent Koech came third with 215 votes, David Kosgei managed 130 votes and Charles Kiptanui 94 votes all totaling to 41,979 valid casted votes.

Speaking at Samoei Secondary School tallying centre, the IEBC official lauded all the contestants for conducting peaceful campaigns in this year’s elections adding that this demonstrates good leadership.

“First and foremost, let me take this chance to appreciate all contestants for conducting peaceful campaigns which are the result of today’s product.  I officially declare Benard Kibor Kitur the Nandi Hills MP having garnered a total of 23,503 votes,” said RO Mugwanga.

The IEBC County Manager further thanked the Nandi East Sub County security team, led by the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Leornard Mgute, for the great role they played in this election period terming it the reason for all success.

“I am very much pleased to recognize the efforts of the security team lead by the sub county DCC, that ensured peace prevails during this election period. Let this be extended even in the future endeavors,” Mugwanga noted.

Benard Kitur who was present while the results were being announced, expressed his gratitude to the voters and pledged that he will deliver to the community in terms of the work they have employed him to carry out.

Kitur appreciated the sitting MP for the period he has served Nandi Hills promising to deliver even more.

“I am very much humbled to be declared winner for this seat and I promise to work extra hard to deliver back. I appreciate Keter for the period he has served as I proceed from here henceforth,” he said.
