Polls opened early Tuesday morning with most voters turning up as early as 3am to be able to cast their vote.
Long queues have been experienced across many polling stations in Marakwet West and East Sub County save for a few stations.
At Kapsowar Primary school, long queue could be witnessed from the main road as many of the voters engaged with each other as they waited for their turn to cast their ballot.
Many braved the chilly Marakwet weather donning huge jackets to keep warm.
Lydia Jemutai, a voter at Kapsowar primary polling station, said that she did not experience any shortcomings when casting her vote save for a few mix up while locating her exact voting room.
Similar numbers could be witnessed at Ngorngoroi primary school polling station with many turning up to cast their vote.
However, the same cannot be said about Chesubet Primary School polling station which has recorded a low turnout and did not have any long queues by the time of going to press.
As at 8:45 am there were only three people in line.
According to the presiding officer Jonathan Kosgey, voting was open at six but there was no one in line as voters started trickling in at 7am.
He was however optimistic that all the registered voters would have turned up by 6pm when the voting exercise closes.
