Sh 8million Water project underway

The government through the Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency (LVNWWDA) has begun drilling a borehole at Ileho Secondary School to provide water to locals in the area.

The Sh8 million project is expected to be completed by December 9, 2022 serving Ileho Primary School, Secondary School and Ileho Polytechnic.

In addition, the Water Agency will construct four communal water points to enable residents from the surrounding villages to access water.

The project works include installation of a 30metre cubic elevated structurally pressed steel tank on an 8 metre elevated steel tower to enable easy flow of water.

LVNWWDA will also install a submersible pumping set and connect the water point to both solar power and the National grid.

The Project is expected to serve over 1000 people in the locality with phase two of the project increasing the area of coverage.

Area Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Isukha East Ward Samuel Peter Imbwakali asked residents to efficiently utilize the water once the project is complete.

He said that in the first phase the contractor will connect the water to the three schools of Ileho Primary, Secondary and the nearby Ileho Polytechnic before connecting the water to residents in phase two of the project.

“We want our people to access water since water is life,” he noted.

A local resident George Muruli urged community members to take advantage of the water project to grow crops through irrigation.
