Hundreds of Employees Fear being axed

Hundreds of newly recruited employees in Nyamira County are likely to be sacked for having been allegedly hired un-procedurally.

This is after the County’s Deputy Governor (DG) Amos Nyaribo  on Tuesday ordered the officials in the department of Public Service Management (PSM) through a letter to suspend the pay of all the employees who were recruited in 2018.

They will remain suspended until an investigation on how they joined the service is concluded.

“Investigations on how new employees were recruited and by who are still ongoing and our Governor John Nyangarama and I have ordered the office of Public Service Management (PSM) to order all those deployed and reported to work be suspended from the pay roll until investigations are complete.

The suspended staffs were hired between January, 2018 and 2019 and have been ordered to keep off their offices until a full report on their fate is tabled,” the DG said.

The DG observed that the move to employ was a mystery and geared towards sabotaging government’s development agenda since employment of new staff was not budgeted for or even projected for by departments in need.

He noted that the decision had crippled the County’s development projects as most of the money allocated to the county was now being used for recurrent expenditure rather than development projects that benefit all the citizens.
