Pioneer Insurance allocates Sh10million to 24 counties

Pioneer Insurance Company has allocated Sh10 million for bursaries and climate change mitigation programme in 24 counties.

Speaking at Mbitini girls’ secondary school in Kitui South, the insurer’s manager in charge of customer experience and marketing, Timothy Mutua, added that the Company is targeting three schools and five students in every school, as well as plant more than 1,000 trees in order to conserve environment.

“We are focusing in ensuring we support needy students from poor background in at least 5 schools in all the 24 counties, as well as plant 1000 trees in a bid to ensure the young generation appreciate the environment,” said Mutua.

Mutua added that the Insurance Company is looking forward to expand and cover the remaining 23 counties by next year.

This will help at increasing the forest cover in line with the government’s objective of achieving 10 per cent cover, following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive, which encourages partnership between both states and non-state actors in efforts to spur trees planting.

Kisasi Sub County Education Director Emanman thanked the insurance company and urged other well-wishers to emulate the noble example.

The company will spend up to Sh3 million on education bursaries to 25 students in each of the 24 counties, targeted in the Trees and Scholarships for the programme.

Schools that benefited in Kitui are; Mbitini girls, Migwani boys, Mwitika Secondary, Syomumo girls and Itoloni girls with the insurer spending Sh3million in every County.
