Baringo youth undergo ajira digital training

Youth in Baringo have undergone a two-day training on online work to enable them earn a living.

Ernest Kirui, Baringo North NG-CDF Centre Manager and Athans Kosgey a trainer, trained the 20 youth and two county staff at the county offices in Kabarnet town, Baringo central Sub-County which commenced on Wednesday May 18.

The youth who are on internship and industrial attachment at various county offices were trained on virtual assistance and encouraged to take up online work as it would enable them earn a decent living.

“We want to empower youth in Baringo in order to build their digital literacy skills to enable them earn a living through online work,” Kirui said.

Kirui noted that the youth were keen to learn about various job categories and how to get genuine clients online.

He encouraged the youth to take up various training opportunities with Ajira Digital that are normally held virtually in order for them to learn more and improve their skills.

Faith Kemboi, a youth in attendance, thanked Ajira for the training opportunity as it came at the right time that is just before she finished her attachment at the county offices.

“The training was very beneficial to me and I am ready to take up online work,” Kemboi said.

Catherine Sumukwo, a county staff who was present urged the youth to take advantage of the government program to learn all they can in order to improve their lives.

She also thanked the organizers and facilitators of the training terming it necessary for opening up great opportunities for the youth.

“The training will go a long way in creating a great impact on youth,” Sumukwo said.

The program that was launched by the government is one of the main empowerment programs that aims at imparting knowledge to the youth to encourage them make good use of their time online to make money.
