Construction of county referral hospital on final phase

The Trans Nzoia County Teaching and Referral hospital whose construction has been on-going for the past eight years is set to open its doors to the general public before coming August, Governor Patrick Khaemba has announced.

Khaemba said the multibillion hospital facility will be officially commissioned for operations once the contractor completes final touches.

The governor revealed installation of the referral facility with the necessary equipment, including beds and oxygen pipes, was on course.

“The actual construction is being finalized.  We have installed beds and several important equipment.  I have directed the department of health to fast-track installation of remaining key equipment.  My administration’s projection is to have the new facility commissioned before August,” disclosed Khaemba.

The County boss was speaking at the county headquarters in Kitale town on Monday after receiving a consignment of drugs worth Sh.53 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA).

Addressing the media, Khaemba said the supplies accounted for about a half of the request of Sh 110 million the devolved unit had placed to the Agency.
