Residents of Samburu County joined other Kenyans in penning down their condolences to the family of the late President Mwai Kibaki.
Led by Samburu County Commissioner (CC), Henry Wafula, the residents wrote their messages in the condolence book, which arrived late, and will be placed outside the CCs office during the mourning period.
“Due to distance and the nature of Samburu County, the condolence book and the late President’s portrait arrived at my office today morning and members of the public are welcomed to come and write down their messages of condolence,” Wafula said.
Stephen Lekaaso 31, eulogized the late President as a leader who had the interests of the common mwananchi at heart as evidenced by the introduction of free primary education.
“Were it not for the introduction of free primary education by President Kibaki, I am sure that I would not have finished my education and become the man I am today,” Lekaaso said.
CC Wafula said he will lead a team drawn from various groups including the youth, women, clergy and elders to represent Samburu County, during the state funeral service for the former President at the Nyayo Stadium on Friday.
