Weekly weather forecast, farmers to continue weeding

Farmers in Kiambu County, whose crops have reached the weeding stage have been advised to start and continue weeding as rains were expected to continue over several places of the County.

Speaking to KNA today while giving the weekly forecast, the County Director for Meteorological Services, Dr. Magdalene Gateri said that light to moderate to heavy rainfall was expected to continue over most places during the week, with rain intensities reducing over the weekend.

Some parts will also experience foggy conditions and possibly thunderstorms. Few places of the county will experience occasional morning rains while most places will experience night and afternoon rain showers, she said.

Gateri said this afternoon the County was expected to experience light rain showers with thunderstorm possibilities over most places and light to moderate rainfall in the afternoon and night.

Tomorrow Wednesday, most places will experience cloudy and foggy conditions in the morning, light to moderate rain in the afternoon and moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorm possibilities over most places at night.

Foggy and cloudy conditions with moderate rain showers will be experienced on Thursday morning.

Saturday morning will experience cloudy and foggy conditions in the morning, thunder clouds in the afternoon and light showers over most places at night while Sunday morning will be partly cloudy, sunny afternoon with thunder clouds at night

Monday, 2nd May will experience cloudy conditions with light showers over most places in the morning while the afternoon and night will experience light to moderate rains.

According to the Kenya Meteorological Service, the outlook for April 2022 in the Country indicates that the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Central and Southern Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County, and parts of the North east and south-eastern lowlands were likely to experience near average rainfall.

Parts of the Northeast, South-eastern Lowlands, and the Coastal region are likely to receive below-average. And the forecast also indicates that several parts of the country were likely to experience near to below-average rainfall, especially during the first half of the month.
