The PS said the initiative was critical in ensuring the country produces a competent workforce through an active education system to enable our learners compete effectively with others around the world.

Speaking in Kisumu Tuesday, where he led a team of government officers in overseeing the administration of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE), Ochieng said the government will not relent in its concerted efforts to restore sanity of examinations.

“Every student will get the grades they deserve following some of the strict guidelines put in place by the government to safeguard the examination papers,” added the PS.

“As government we continue to emphasize on the sanity of the examinations to ensure that students sit for their national exams and get the grades they have worked for, and that which they truly deserve,” he said.

He said the multi-agency approach was behind the smooth running of the examinations and speedy release of results to the satisfaction of students, parents and teachers.

“When I talk of a multi-agency approach, as the PS in charge of ICT, I can attest how technology has been deployed during marking of these examinations and even soon the same system shall be used to place these pupils in secondary schools,” he said.

The PS who visited Kisumu Girls High School also lauded teachers and other stakeholders in ensuring that the exercise is conducted smoothly.
