Chiefs and their assistants in Homa Bay Sub County have been challenged to account for the missing percentage of candidates who sat for their KCPE last year and have not yet joined form ones.
Speaking at Riwa primary school in West Kanyada location on Tuesday, during the installation of assistant chief for Kotieno sub location, Homa Bay Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Joseph Ngeny said the sub county has posted 96 per cent transition of pupils to form one this year.
Ngeny added that the remaining 4 per cent must be accounted for and called on the chiefs to redouble their efforts in tracing such children.
The DCC further called on parents with children who did not succeed in last year’s Examination to take them to vocational Training Centres instead of leaving them at home.
“Everybody is entitled to basic education and therefore any parent who is still keeping a child at home should come to my office together with the chief and explain why,” he ordered.
The administrator further warned those who prey on school going girls for sex, saying the security agency will not relent in the war against girl child abuse.
At the same time, he appealed to the parents to be careful while sending their children to schools especially girls, saying they should make proper arrangements for their safe arrival.
He called on leaders to pull from the same direction and read from the same script, saying it is the only way to ensure that best services are offered to the citizens.
On his part, the newly appointed Chief Eric Owino promised to deal firmly with insecurity in the region.
