Gov’t lauded for creating administrative units in Marsabit

The residents of Marsabit County have lauded the government for creating additional administrative units in the region which they say would enhance security and development.

Through the county leadership led by Governor Mohamed Ali, the residents observed that the county, which is the largest in the country in terms of land mass, had over time witnessed an increase in population necessitating more administrative units.

Governor Ali while thanking President Uhuru’s administration for forming 4 new sub-counties, 3 locations and 6 sub-locations said the move would ease delivery of services to wananchi and especially security.

Addressing hundreds of supporters at his Marsabit residence, the Governor noted that the new units created in Laisamis, Saku and Moyale constituencies were in addition to two others that were created recently in North Horr constituency.

The new sub-counties and which Governor Ali urged for their immediate operationalization in order to address pressing needs that the residents are facing particularly security, include Sagante/Jardesa in Saku, Korr in Laisamis, Uran and Golbo in Moyale.

Korr and Sagante/Jardesa as well as Uran have been on the government radar for insecurity propelled by the cattle rustling menace.

Marsabit County Commissioner Paul Rotich told KNA that the arrangements for the engagement of officers to work in the new administration were underway.
