KCSE exams going on smoothly, TSC CEO

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Nancy Macharia said that the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national exams are running smoothly across the country with no major challenges encountered since the exams started on Monday this week.

The TSC boss noted that logistics and trained manpower are in place to ensure the exams go on uninterrupted.

Macharia was speaking at Kitui town when she witnessed opening of KCSE exam’s security container for Kitui Central Sub-County and as well dispatch of the day’s KCSE exams papers to exam centres across the Sub County.

“We have so far not encountered any major challenges and where we have faced a problem, we have been able to immediately resolve it paving way for the affected candidates to sit for their exams uninterrupted,” said the CEO.

She noted that over 220,000 teachers had been effectively trained on handling of the ongoing KCSE exams and as well they will be deployed to oversee another forthcoming KCSE exam set to take place at the end of this year.

“This year we are having two KCSE national exams and therefore the 220, 000 trained teachers have been prepared to handle the two exams, and plans are underway to train other 60, 000 teachers in June this year who will be handing Kenya Junior school exams,” the TSC executive officer said.

Kitui County Commissioner Mbogai Rioba while speaking during the function said that enough security officers had been deployed to provide security of the exams across the county.

He noted that no insecurity incident has been reported so far.
