Sh100million set aside to upgrade Busia Referral Hospital

The National Government through the Department of Health has kicked off the construction of male surgical and Medical wards at Busia County Referral Hospital.

The Sh100 million project is part of the government’s efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage which is one of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s flagship projects.

Speaking during the official handing over of the construction site that is within Busia Referral Hospital premises, Busia County Chief Officer for Health and Sanitation, Jonathan Ino, said the one storey building will host four wards.

Busia County Referral Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Namudala Emukule, said the project will be of great benefit to the local residents.

The project is expected to be complete by June 30, 2022 with additional medical equipment and a standby generator supplied.

Similar projects have been implemented in Wajir, Samburu, Nyamira and Nyandarua counties.
