Kajiado County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha on Tuesday commissioned three Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) classes in Loitoktok Sub County.
The three classes in Olchorro, Ilkisonko and Kimana Mixed secondary Schools are the first CBC classes to be commissioned in Kajiado County.
While commissioning the classes, Nkanatha said the three classes are among eight just completed classes out of 19 classes which are under construction for first phase in the Sub County.
He further pointed that the commissioning of more classes will continue adding that due to vastness of the county more time is needed.
Nkanatha applauded the Loitoktok Sub County CBC implementation Committee for being a pace setter for other sub counties in the county in the ongoing program.
The County Commissioner also lauded the industrious contractors who have delivered the classes timely as scheduled.
He said with completion of classes the schools will in 2023 receive junior secondary learners who are currently in grade five.
The County Commissioner applauded the National Government for the programme adding that the government is ready and prepared to support the schools in the new curriculum, appealing also to other players in the sector to do their part to ensure success of the CBC.
On exams the County Commissioner said briefing has been done to security personnel on manning the exams adding that they are prepared for delivery of credible exams
He asked security officers manning exams to be alert during exam time so as to concentrate with manning of the exams.
Kajiado County Director of Education, Dr. Salome Maina urged the Sub County CBC implementation Committee to push the contractors who are lagging behind to complete the classes on time for within two week the schools will be no go zones after turning to exam centres.
Dr. Maina also noted that completion of the CBC classes on time will fast track processing of payment for the contractors.
She said they cannot afford to frustrate the contractors since they will require them for the second phase which will commence after completion of first phase.
On forthcoming exam the CDE said the County is well prepared for the exams.
