Two people died in a tragic road accident on Thursday at Mto Wa Mawe area in Athi River, Machakos along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
Confirming the incident, Athi River OCPD, Sharma Wario said the deceased persons, an unidentified man and a woman were travelling in a canter that got involved in a head on collision with a bus belonging to Platinum Outsourcing Company at around 7 am
According to Wario, the two occupants of the speeding canter that was headed towards Machakos died on the spot.
“It overtook a fleet of vehicles before hitting the bus which had just dropped workers at the Primarosa Flower Company in Athi River. The bus driver reportedly escaped unhurt,” said Wario
The police boss cautioned all road users against reckless driving adding that those who contravene traffic laws will face the law
The remains of the deceased where taken to Shalom community hospital mortuary awaiting burial arrangements as the wreckage of the vehicles were towed to Athi River police station
