Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai has challenged the church to be at the forefront in preaching peace ahead of the August 9 poll.
Speaking as he presided over official opening of Unification Church and Prayer Center in Ang’ata Barikoi Ward Kilgoris, Ole Tunai said religious institutions play a key role in strengthening the cohesion of the society and cautioned against reckless remarks by politicians which may plunge the country into chaos.
He said the church should not fear to call out such leaders who may be out to divide Kenyans on the basis of ethnicity or political affiliations for selfish gains.
Meanwhile, Governor Tunai urged government agencies to be on high alert ahead of the August poll saying they should not hesitate to arrest politicians spewing utterances which may plunge the country into chaos as was the case with the 2007 post-election violence.
Accompanying the Governor during the exercise, was the area Member of County Assembly Gabriel Mibei.
