Over 200 Kajiado North residents have benefited from the mass issuance of national identification cards through the national government Rapid Results Initiative, aimed at bringing national identification registration services closer to the people.
The Rapid Registration Initiative targets to issue eligible persons who have attained 18 years with national identification cards to enable them register as voters in preparation for the August 2022 General Election.
According to the Embulbul chief Daniel Mutangili, the national identification cards were being issued within 24 hours through the Rapid Results Initiative.
He reiterated the importance of the national identification card for accessing government services, personal identification, employment opportunities and voter registration.
“We are visiting people in the sub-locations to register them for national identification cards because the national government is conducting a mass issuance of national identification cards. We have visited Ngong town and now we are at Kerarapon,”said Mutangili.
“I appreciate the government’s outreach effort in reaching people at their homes and providing them with national identification cards so that they are able to register as voters. They should also have the same initiative for birth certificates because without a birth certificate you cannot enroll a child in school,” said Stephen Tai a resident.
As part of the initiative, chiefs and their assistants are reaching out to people whose identity cards are ready as they deliver the vital document to them.
