Kilifi County was not affected by the countrywide nurses’ strike that kicked off Monday after nurses in the county vowed not to down their tools.
Evance Ogachi, Malindi sub-county hospital medical superintendent told the press that the decision to call off the strike was reached after Kilifi County government responded quickly and committed to pay them their allowances as per 2018’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Speaking at Malindi level 4 hospital, Ogachi said that nurses in Kilifi county would start receiving the payments from the county government by the end of February.
“Nurses in Kilifi county will not be part of the nurses’ strike which is going on countrywide. This is because the Union of Nurses in Kilifi county had a sitting last week with the county government and the county government promised to pay the nurses’ allowances,” Ogachi said.
