A total of 236 village administrators have successfully completed a three-week training that has equipped them adequately to serve the people of Bungoma bringing to an end, a three year protracted wait for them to assume office.
The event which took place at Syombe Bumula Sub County was attended by a cross section of the county leadership led by Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.
The village administrators will serve in the nine sub counties.
Governor Wycliffe Wangamati said the 236 were selected from over 9,000 applicants who applied for the position and were thus very competent.
“Every day, when you wake up, give thanks to God for the opportunity to serve the people of Bungoma, ” he said.
He urged them to maintain discipline and servant hood while in service
Wangamati said employment of village administrators could have commenced in 2019 but court battles had hindered it.
He said he will remain at the forefront of championing the rights of the poor to help improve their lives.
Speaking at the event, Bukembe West Member of County Assembly Joram Wanjala urged the graduands to work diligently and execute their mandate for the benefit of residents of Bungoma.
