A 72-year-old woman was hospitalized at the Chuka County Referral Hospital with severe burns on her private parts after her son inflicted the injuries following a disagreement.
The woman from Gaciankure village in Chuka Igambang’ombe Constituency is reported to have been burnt with hot water by her son following a quarrel over some cash.
She was admitted at the medical facility on last Monday where she was also treated for burns on her back and face according to the facility’s medical superintendent Dr. Maureen Ogeto.
The medical officer told the press that the domestic violence victim was brought at the hospital in critical condition but was responding well to treatment.
“She had large blisters on the affected areas when she was brought which have now developed into wounds,” Dr. Ogeto said.
According to a source from Gaciankure village, the suspected villain only identified as Muthomi who is a father of three, is reported to have burnt his mother with hot water after she declined to share with him some money she had received from one of his brothers.
The suspect is also reported to have become furious after his brother decided to send money directly via their mother’s phone instead of using his mobile number.
Kiang’ondu Location chief Stanley Ntiba told media that the woman reported the matter at Chuka station on Monday before she was given a P3 form to process after treatment at the Chuka hospital.
The administrator said the suspect is a drunkard and added that his mother has been tending him and his family of three.
Chuka Igambang’ombe OCPD Benson Makumbi however told media that the issue was not reported at the station and the suspect was still at large.
