A Murang’a man brutally murders his father, dumps his body in a river

Police in Murang’a have launched a manhunt for a 35-year old man who allegedly murdered his father and dumped his body in a river at Matithi Village in Kiharu constituency.
The suspect Wilson Wamwea is at large as members of his family accuse him of killing his father Peter Njoroge and dumping his body in a nearby river on Friday night.
The body of Njoroge, 69, with head injuries was found by neighbours dumped along river Maragua a few metres from his home after they traced blood stains from his house.
The suspect is said to have dragged the body of his father after killing him to the river leaving trails to where the body was dumped.
The incident shocked local residents who also alleged that the suspect killed the old man in cahoots with his mother.
A Daughter to the deceased Ms Jane Wangari claimed that his brother has been threatening to kill his father on several occasions.
She lamented that the brother waited when there was no one at home to commit the murder saying there has been bad blood between the two.
“Our brother has been threatening to kill our father and it is unfortunate his threats came to be. It’s very painful to kill your biological father for unclear reasons,” decried Wangari.
Neighbours suspect the man of using drugs alleging the influence of bhang could have made him to commit the murder.
Area assistant chief Mr. Bernard Kagoto confirmed the incident and said that the body had several head injuries suspected to have been inflicted by blunt object.
Kagoto added that the mother of the suspect has been held to assist the police with investigations.
“Reports indicate that the family has been having land issues but the problem was solved and every member was allocated his land. We are yet to establish what drove the man to commit the heinous act,” added the administrator.
He appealed to local residents to help in arresting the suspect who vanished after the incident so as to face the law.
The body was moved to Murang’a county referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.
