Busia County Government has received a major boost after Prime Health Pharma Limited donated Biochemistry Analyzer machines to its Health Department to provide quality services in laboratories at the County and Sub- county health facilities.
This comes following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Prime Health Pharma Limited and the Busia County Government to provide medical equipment to public health facilities on placement basis.
The placement MoU will see the Company engaged in supply and maintenance of the machines, while the County Government will only procure reagents from the Company supplying the equipment.
Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr. Isaac Omeri, said the two equipment will be stationed at the Busia County Referral Hospital (BCRH) and Khunyangu Level Four Hospital laboratories.
“We are one of the lucky counties to have received the Biochemistry Analyzer equipment distributed by Prime Health Pharma Limited. The intention is to ensure laboratories in public hospitals are equipped to provide quality services for the benefit of residents,” he said.
Dr. Omeri applauded efforts of the Company, highlighting the key roles of the equipment ranging from testing biochemical activities in the body, renal functions and enzymes which indicate disease conditions present in patients among other functions.
“Placement agreement is an economical way of offering quality laboratory services compared to buying the equipment,” he added.
The Chief Officer made the remarks at the Busia East African Laboratory, where 27 Healthcare workers, including laboratory technologists and biomedical engineers are being trained by the Prime Health Pharma Limited’s Application Specialist Ronald Kamau Kiarie on the new biochemistry machine.
Dr. Omeri further reiterated that the County Government is committed towards ensuring that health services are devolved across the seven Sub-counties.
He lauded the efforts by the County Government in working closely with the Embassy of Hungary to have equipment supplied to Amukura Health Centre.
The County Government continues to focus on affordable health care to its residents. Ultra-Modern Theatre at Nambale Sub-county Hospital is almost ready for use.
The theatre has twin operating rooms (2 theatres), sluice room, changing rooms, recovery room, patient receiving area & waiting bay will serve a population of over 29,778 Nambale Sub County residents.
