KMTC Student Found Murdered in Cold Blood

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) fraternity in Homabay woke to a rude shock after a student was found murdered in a suspect case of a crime of passion.

The 23-year-old student identified as Emily Chepkemoi was found lying in a pool of blood at her rented house in Oriang’ Estate within in Homabay town.

The deceased, who was a first-year student at KMTC Homa Bay Town campus pursuing clinical medicine, was last seen at the campus on Friday evening after attending classes only to be found dead on Sunday.

The decomposing body of Emily was found by one of her neighbors who became suspicious following a bad stench that was emanating from her house and alerted the police.

According to Assistant Chief of Homa Bay Town Sub Location, Dancun Okech, he received information that someone was murdered in Oriang Estate when he rushed there only to find that the victim was a student of KMTC.

“The deceased was stabbed twice in the head and the neck with a knife,” he noted.

The administrator suspected that the student was murdered by her boyfriend over love triangle on Friday night before escaping to an unknown location after switching off his phone.

Homa Bay Sub County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Monica Berege who confirmed the incident said they have launched investigations over the matter to ensure all the culprits are brought to book.

Speaking to KNA, KMTC Students’ Representative Council’s chairperson David Odhiambo said they are saddened about the murder of one of their own adding that the deceased was brutally killed and condemned the murder.

Odhiambo stated, “The culprits who committed this atrocity must be nabbed and punished severely for taking the life of our sister. We called on the authorities to ensure that security in the area is maximized to avoid such incidents from occurring.”

One of Emily’s closest friends and classmate, Onyango Teresa grieved over the death saying that the deceased was like a sister to her. She added, “Emily was a kind soul and a fighter.”

The students demanded justice for the deceased.

The body of the student was taken to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
