A draw over the weekend puts Dragon FC from Samia Sub- County in a pole position in their zone, managing to maintain a narrow lead on the table as the first leg of the Busia Odibets County League came to an end.
Ten-man Dragon came from behind twice to hold Masters FC to a 2-2 draw in a thrilling match played at the Busia Stadium on Sunday.
A strike at 33 minutes from veteran, Charles Okwemba, former AFC Leopards and Harambee Star midfielder gave Masters FC an early lead which saw his team lead 1-0 at halftime.
Leonard Maloba, levelled the score in the 61st minute before Joseph Opuba restored Masters lead with a penalty awarded by referee Duncan Omondi after a Dragon defender handled in the box.
The lead was short-lived as Arony Wanyama struck a last-gasp goal to salvage a point. Dragon received a setback in the 83rd minute when Shadrach Okochi was sent off after picking up a second consecutive yellow card for rough play.
The draw saw Dragon consolidate their lead in Zone B with 18 points from nine matches. Ajax who drew 0-0 with Teens of Hope at Okame Primary School are second with 16 points, the same as Green Canopy who also drew 0-0 with Mungatsi but have inferior goal difference.
Busia YC are last on the table with four points despite beating Young Rovers Otimong 2-1, their first victory since the start of the season, three behind Teens of Hope who lie ninth. Mabale who drew 1-1 away to Butula Eagles are placed eighth with nine points.
In the other encounter, Malaba Giants hammered Kakurikit 4-1 in Zone A encounter played at Malaba Stadium on Saturday to earn them top place with 17 points from seven matches.
Giants are awaiting the verdict of their abandoned away match against Kekalet with the hosts allegedly causing the abandonment. The ruling is expected tomorrow.
Boca Junior who drew 1-1 with Kamolo on Sunday and FC Amagoro tie on 14 points but Amagoro are second on the table by virtue of a superior goal aggregate.
Kekalet who stunned Musokoto 1-0 at Musokoto Primary School moved to fourth place with 13 points, one point ahead of fifth placed Kamolo FC.
Lupida who upset early pace setters St Anthony Okatekok 3-1 at Lupida Primary school settled at 7th position with seven points.
Okatekok have the same number of points but with an inferior goal aggregate. Musokoto are last with three points.
