A woman who is suspected to have been lacing drinks and stealing for patrons in bars in Kiambu and Kirinyaga counties will remain in custody for three (3) days to allow completion of investigations into the case.
This is after her arraignment in court before Kiambu Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo, who allowed her further detention in which police are seeking to be allowed to escort her to Kirinyaga for a similar case.
Ms Atambo allowed Inspector John Koech, to escort Irene Njoki Irungu to Kirinyaga County where another, Michael Lagat of Kutus, had reported on May 25, 2021 that the suspect had stolen from him after lacing his drinks. This is as per the CCTV footage which is in the possession of the police who are investigating the case.
She has, however, been charged that on May 20, 2021 at Liz Apartments in Muchatha village of Kiambaa Sub-county of Kiambu County, with others not before the Court, she stole a mobile phone make oppo A 35 valued at 5000, an ABSA ATM Card, id, Airtel WIFI gadget valued at 450,000 shillings all valued at 473,000 the property of David Mwangi Makumi.
She faced an alternative count that on February 25, 2021 at Avantis bar and Lodge in Ruaka area, jointly with others not before the court with intent to commit a felony namely stealing, she administered a drug to Antony Mutua Ndirangu and Gerald Waweru.
In count two, the Court heard that on February 25, 2021 at Avantis lounge, she allegedly stole mobile phones make Oppo Reno 4 and Samsung A 30 and money amounting to 171,150, the property of Antony and Gerald.
She was arrested on May 27, 2021 following the complaints after the complainants who had been enjoying drinks with her and another one still at large realized that they had lost their property.
The investigator told the Court that the complainant who had become unconscious had to be assisted by hotel management who took them to the dispensary where they were treated and discharged.
The Case will be mentioned on June 9, 2021. Her bond pleas were deferred until Wednesday when investigations into her other case will have been completed.
