Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi kagwe has warned that Nyanza and Western provinces need to accelerate measures for mitigating the Indian variant of the Corona virus that is now plundering the region.
Mutahi said that the flaring transmission of the virus in the Nyanza regions is now spreading across the local populace.
“Kisumu county does not have an upsurge, we have not seen a decline in terms of the positivity rates in Kisumu and the neighbouring Counties as well,” said Mutahi.
The CS warned that the people need to be ready and the neighbouring counties as well saying the country too need to prepare for eventuality that may arise from the emergence of the Indian variant in the affected counties.
Concerning the Corona Vaccine already in its second round of dolling to the people he said the police are conducting investigations that there is a section of people that are demanding for money to give the corona jabs.
Kagwe clarified that the Corona vaccine should be dolled free of charge and reiterated that punitive measures will be taken against any suspect caught doing that.
He further warned against disposal of medical waste in markets saying the trend had been seen in a number of counties.
