Dealers in scrap metal who will be tempted to vandalise the refurbished rail track in Kisumu have been warned that terse legal action will be taken against them.
Nyanza Regional Commissioner (RC), Magu Mutundika, condemned those plugging off bolts from the rails, warning them that they are derailing the economic potential and future of the region as their actions will undermine the export of the region’s key produce of fish and sugar.
The Commissioner alerted the residents to immediately report anyone sported retailing the bolts and rail sleepers plugged off the rail so that immediate action be taken against them.
Mutundika reminded the residents of Muhoroni and Kisumu as a whole that they anticipate the coming of Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga in Kisumu is a sign of good tidings for the region, urging the residents to warmly welcome the two leaders.
He said Kisumu is blessed to host the two leaders, saying the best of it all is that the Presidents is coming with a bag-load of goodies for the region.
The RC said the President is to commission several projects during his visit, including the Mamboleo road.
Other Key Projects in the President’s itinerary will be opening of the refurbished Kisumu Port, the Uhuru Business Park and Uhuru Sports Complex.
