Grief has gripped residents of Muguna village North Yimbo location in Bondo sub-county after a 15-year-old boy drowned in Ngulu Dam.
Joseph Oduor Otieno who had just sat his KCPE examinations and was waiting to join Form 1 in July drowned according to two neighbors, Mr. David Okite and Mr Charles Omondi.
The duo told KNA that the boy had gone to graze animals near the dam and is suspected to have drowned while swimming.
They said the animals returned home by themselves, prompting his parents and siblings to mount a search for him in the bushes near that dam but only managed to find his clothes and sandals beside the water.
The neighbors stated that this made the parents suspect that he must have drowned and raised an alarm attracting members of the public who swam and recovered the body.
North Yimbo location Chief Mr. Opil Rabut who visited the scene confirmed the incident, noting that the body has since been removed to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
