Kakamega Investment Agency Urged to brand County

The Kakamega County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Beatrice Sabana has called on the County Investment and Development Agency (CIDA) to woo investors.

“The Agency should efficiently execute its mandate of marketing the county as the favourable investment destination in the Western region,” Dr. Sabana stated while opening a two-day training workshop aimed at building the capacity of the Board members at a Kakamega hotel on Wednesday.

The CECM pointed out that through sustained marketing strategies, the Agency stands out as one of the vehicles for promoting economic development for the county. “We expect you to reach out to potential investors locally and internationally with profiles that project the county as a viable destination for investment,” she asserted and advised the Board to map out and document the available investment opportunities in the county.

The CIDA Board chairperson Prof. Nelson Wawire pledged that his team would live up to their core responsibility of marketing the county to investors from within and beyond for the realization of socio-economic development.

Prof. Wawire added that they will liaise with all the departments to ensure an enabling environment for investment in order to stimulate development.

The Acting CIDA CEO Joseph Indire said the workshop will among other things address governance, auditing as well as monitoring and evaluation of projects topics.
