Traffic offenders arrested and arraigned in Lodwar court

Four people were on Monday morning arrested and arraigned before a Lodwar court for violating traffic rules.

The traffic offences included driving uninsured vehicles, driving vehicles with worn out tyres and driving vehicles with a cracked side mirror.

Appearing before Lodwar Principal Magistrate, Christine Wekesa, Benson Wamalwa was fined Sh10,000 or be imprisoned for two months for driving an uninsured vehicle.

Another driver, Joel Cheruiyot, also faced similar charges but pleaded not guilty and paid Sh10,000 Cash Bail.

The Magistrate had ruled that he pays a Cash Bond of Sh20,000 or a Sh10,000 Cash Bail. The case will be heard on May 24, 2021.

Ewesit Kapelo was fined Sh25,000 or serve four months’ prison sentence for driving a vehicle with one worn out tyre.

He pleaded guilty and paid Sh25,000 fine after he was found to be a first offender by the court.

On his part, Emmanuel Wekesa paid Sh7,000 fine after he pleaded guilty for driving a vehicle with a cracked side mirror.

Principal Magistrate, Christine Wekesa, had ruled that Wekesa to pay Sh7,000 fine or serve a two months’ prison term.
