Kajiado County residents have been called upon to share their Christmas celebrations with those who are less fortunate within their neighbourhoods.
Kajiado North Constituency Member of Parliament Joseph Manje said Christmas is about sharing whatever one has.
He noted that many people are unable to afford a decent meal due to the high cost of living and challenged those who are privileged to extend their generosity to the less fortunate.
Manje made his remarks Monday at Gichagi slums in Ngong, Kajiado County when he donated foodstuffs for Christmas to the elderly persons.
“I believe in sharing with the less fortunate during this season since I know Christmas is all about sharing the love of God,” said Manje.
The legislator called on the residents to uphold peace and unity during the festive season and focus on matters development in the year 2019.
Manje reiterated that Christmas celebrations should be marked with decency and residents must not forget of other bigger and important projects in the coming year.
He promised to support his mission of ensuring 100 percent transition from primary to secondary education in Kajiado North.
Similarly, Kajiado County Executive Committee Member for Sports and Youth Alvin Kimani lauded the youth for engaging in income generating activities during the festive season.
Kimani noted that the majority of the youth in Kajiado were job seekers but they are not in the list of idlers as they are busy engaging in activities that can enable them improve their livelihoods.
“We are committed as Kajiado leadership to ensure the development projects being implemented within our County engage 70 percent of our youth,” said Kimani. “This will go a long way in ensuring our youth get opportunities,” he added.
The Youthful CEC urged the elderly people to model good moral values among the youth to promote a morally upright society.
