Residents of Kanyadenda village have been left in shock and disbelief after a woman committed suicide days after her daughter in-law left home in Homabay County.
The incident happened on Wednesday in Kakelo location, Rachuonyo East Sub County.
The body of Rael Bonyo Otibo, aged 70 years, was today found by one of her grandchildren hanging from the roof of her house.
Kakelo Kamroth Assistant Chief Tom Ondiro confirming the incident said the woman used a piece of cloth to take her own life.
Neighbours said last week the old woman had quarreled with her daughter in-law who they said fled the home on Friday and has not comes back.
“She left her five children with the old woman,” said witnesses who did not want to be mentioned
The Assistant Chief said the cause of suicide has not been well established but said it could be family related matters.
He said police will help in the investigation as he urged residents to seek a counselor whenever they have a problem in their home to avert tragic situations.
