Mandera teacher in court over KCSE malpractice

A teacher at Towfid Secondary School in Mandera East , Mandera County has been arrested and arraigned before Mandera senior residence magistrate Peter Wasike for examination malpractices contrary to section 28 b of Kenya national Examination Council act no 29 of 2012.

Wafula Masinde was arrested in possession of page two of KNEC Chemistry paper 2 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education 2020.

He is accused of disclosing the content of Kenya National Examination Council Chemistry paper through whatsapp to a whatsapp group page namely Mandera Private Schools without lawful authority.

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha earlier on had disclosed that some schools in the country were in the government radar for attempts to cheat in the ongoing KCSE examination.

He warned against examination irregularities saying anyone who will be caught will be dealt with in accordance to the law and the consequences will be dire.

Despite Kenya National Examination Council putting strict measures in the KNEC act published in 2012 which provides strict penalties to examination culprits the KCSE examination malpractices are yet to end in the country.

Wafula Masinde was granted Sh 100,000 bond. The case will be mentioned on April 13th April 2021.
