Candidates sitting for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) have been warned against cheating.
Transport Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Wavinya Ndeti said any candidate involved in examination malpractices would face dire consequences.
Ndeti, who was speaking in Kajiado Monday after overseeing the opening of the exam’s container, urged the candidates to be confident when sitting for the exams as they had been fully prepared for them.
“Any student caught cheating will be removed from the exam room and face consequences. No need to ruin your future. We know you have prepared well for the exams and you will do well,” she said.
The CAS noted that there was an improvement in the number of girls sitting for the 2021 KCPE in the county compared to the previous years, assuring that all candidates, even the expectant ones had been catered for by the Ministry of Education.
Kajiado County Director of Education Luka Kangogo revealed that there are 337 KCPE exam centers in the county with a total of 22,093 candidates registered to sit for the exams ,11,289 of whom are boys and 10,804 girls. Among the candidates are15 inmates at the Kajiado GK Prison.
Kangogo noted that the exams would be taken under strict observance of the Covid-19 prevention protocols.
The KCPE exams kicked off with the rehearsals on Friday 19. The exams begun Monday and ends on Wednesday.
On Monday, the candidates were set to tackle English language, Maths as well as English composition. On Tuesday they will sit for the Science paper in the morning, followed by Kiswahili and Insha in the afternoon. The exams will end on Wednesday with Social Studies and Religious Education paper.
