Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have applied for orders to search and confiscate a motor vehicle and other valuables alleged to have been stolen by the personal assistant of an East African Legislative Assembly(EALA) official.
In a miscellaneous application sworn before Kiambu Chief Magistrate. Patriciah Gichohi yesterday, Sergeant Nelson Ashiali of DCI applied to be given permission to access, search and confiscate a motor vehicle, electronics and money reported to have been stolen by the personal assistant of Sergon Jemitah and two others. Jemitah is an official of EALA.
The PA is suspected to have been involved in a robbery with violence case in which the complainant identified one of his attackers and proceeded to report to the police.
According to the application, Kennedy Keis who is the complainant reported that on Friday February 26 2021 at Gigiri Lounge within the Gigiri area he was attacked by three robbers when he was exiting the Gigiri lounge at around 10pm.
“We were intercepted/blocked by one motor vehicle a Toyota V8 black in colour believed to belong to Ms Sergon and one man moved towards him pointing a gun at him and snatched from him one mobile phone (IPhoneX5) and also took a sum of Sh 300,000 and other valuable items,” said Mr Keis.
The complainant is reported to have tried to pursue one of the robbers but was overpowered when a gun was pointed at him and the car sped off after the complainant identified another occupant of the vehicle as Lemeluk who is Florence Sergon of Africa Legislative Assembly`s Personal Assistant (PA).
He told the court that he intended to seize or tow the black Toyota V8, the IPhone X5, and other valuable items which were stolen from the complainant which they believe are being used by the respondent, their agents and employees as they are required by the police as exhibits for the case.
The court allowed the applicant to carry out the search which is expected to be done at the EALA’s two residences, at Dorothy Park Apartments at Lang`ata and Rangers court at South C within Nairobi.
The officer will return to court soon after completing his investigations
The case will be however be mentioned after two weeks
