Over 24,000 learners in Tharaka Nithi County are set for the national examinations that kicked off with the administration of the grade four assessment tests Monday.
Tharaka Nithi County Director of Education (CDE) Ms. Bridget Wambua said that the administration of assessment examinations for grade 4 pupils kicked off successfully without a hitch.
Speaking to reporters in her office in Chuka town Tuesday Ms. Wambua disclosed that 6,332 boys and 6,500 girls are set for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) while 5,217 boys and 5,764 girls are registered for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
She further disclosed that a total of 40 women and 36 men enrolled for the exams privately adding examination materials for French, Music, and Home Science are already in the county.
Ms Wambua revealed that a Multi-Agency team was in place to ensure compliance with the Ministry of Health guidelines to prevent Covid-19 pandemic during the exams period adding, “ I am pleased to confirm that so far no coronavirus positive case has been reported in any school in Tharaka Nithi County.”
