6000 residents of Busia to get Covid 19 vaccine

At least 6000 residents of Busia County are set to receive Covid-19 Vaccine, area Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi has said.

Speaking during the official launch of the vaccine at Busia County Referral Hospital on Tuesday, Mulomi said that the 12,000 sets each containing 10 vaccines that the county received are meant to immunize 6000 residents starting with health workers, teachers and security officers.

“The department of health has already trained a number of staff and intend to train more with a view to participate in the exercise,” he said.

He advised the residents to continue adhering to the Covid-19 containment protocols even after being vaccinated. “The Covid 19 pandemic has affected the County’s economy negatively and should not be taken lightly,” he said.

The deputy Governor asked politicians to refrain from propaganda about the vaccine but rather encourage residents to take the jabs that are meant to prevent them from contracting the deadly virus.

“The vaccine is being used globally after being subjected to thorough research to ascertain its efficacy and safety,” Mulomi said adding the vaccine can be used by all, except children, expectant women, breastfeeding mothers and those suffering from allergies.
