Leaders Condemn Violence during Kiamokama Ward by-election

Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and former Kisii Mayor Samuel Omwando have condemned the violence that was witnessed during the Kiamokama Ward By-election.

United Democratic Alliance Party candidate in the Kiamokama mini poll, Moses Nyakeramba and some of his supporters were yesterday morning arrested and later released by the police over voter bribery and barring of voters.

Addressing the Press on the outskirts of Kisii Town  Maangi criticised the incident in which a teargas canister was thrown into Nyakeramba’s vehicle by saying that it was unlawful.

He decried alleged intimidation by the police, voter bribery and hooliganism to the UDA candidate.

Samuel Omwando alleged that the UDA candidate’s residence was earlier in the day of election blocked by hooligans.

He claimed that state resources, machinery and police were being used to torment and frustrate those allied to the party.
