Turkana governor Josphat Nanok has opened up on why he fell out with ODM on whose ticket he was elected in 2017.
Speaking during a morning radio talk show, Nanok accused ODM of failing to reward the county which delivered over 60 percent of the vote to the party in 2017.
He said the party rewarded one region in the nomination slots in the senate and national assembly to the chagrin of the county party voters.
He added that the move by the party to nominate a person from another county to the Turkana county assembly as a special elect MCA yet the position was reserved for a minority person who supported the party and resides in the county.
“We even had a name for the person who was to be nominated as MCA by ODM. The minorities are to date very unhappy by the decision made by the party and our efforts to intervene at the national office did not bear fruit,” said Nanok.
He also accused the party of ejecting him from the deputy party vice chairman position despite his contribution to the party.
Nanok openly clashed with ODM Party leader Raila Odinga over the proposals in the Building Bridges Initiative which Nanok says will cap revenue allocation to the county.
On his part, Odinga said the county stands to gain an additional Sh 10 billion.
Nanok has in the recent past been warming up to Deputy President William Ruto.
