Kayole District SDA church bids farewell to Pastor Muturi

Pastor Haroun Muturi of the Seventh Day Adventist has stressed the importance of safeguarding the doctrines of the church  to guide the congregation for the common good of the community.

he told a farewell sermon when he handed over the mantle of Kayole SDA District churches to Pastor Julius Munuve at the Berea SDA Church that many a times people tended to forget the dictates of the church and “it is paramount that the leadership kept referring to the church manual for accountability and protection of the word of God to prevail” he observed.

Pastor Muturi  who moves to Ndunyu Njeru,South Kinangop of Nyandarua County however impressed on his successor from Umoja District to continue to observe prudence on church expenditures to ensure they accounted for all the funds of the church.

He cautioned that any money gained from an asset owned by the church must be channeled to the right kitty to enable  members to run church programmes with ease.

He cited the recent camp meetings held in 2019 August, he said Kayole and Tumaini Churches did not have pending bills owing to the prudent management under his watch.

“And that is the way it should be. We cannot keep allowing the church to incur unnecessary debts whenever we hold  Camp meetings or any other programme because of some leaders who have an appetite of dipping their fingers into the church kitty by misappropriating assets owned by the church” he said.

meanwhile Pomp and fanfare characterised the  farewell  fete when the elated congregation  showered the outgoing Pastor with gifts in appreciation of his service at the church dating back to the inception of the district in the late 90’s.

A representative of the women ministry from Berea Church while presenting a gift for the pastor’s wife thanked the couple for their service at Kayole district. “This is for Mrs. Pastor, take it to her for allowing you to minister to us for 2 years” she noted.

She also thanked the pastor for serving the District churches saying he was God-send. “We appreciate your service to this church and the secret for having put up with Pastor Muturi is that we were good learners who were always ready to listen and be corrected whenever we went overboard”.

She said Pastor was blessed and would continue to guide his new church because of the wisdom and courage that God had bestowed in him. “We will continue to pray for you so that you can continue to protect what belongs to God in the new district which you have been transferred to.”

Kayole District is made up of Tumaini, Kayole, Berea, Ushindi Churches and Ekalakala in Machakos County which was born after members of the church held a crusade in the area in 2017 and some people got baptized and a church was constructed for them.

At Kayole SDA church, Pastor Muturi streamlined the operations at Kayole Adventist Primary school and the school bus which is sometimes hired by the community and thus generates income for the church, thus making every church member enjoy services like water, electricity and maintenance of the church without the leadership telling them to pay from their pockets.

At Tumaini SDA Church, a parking that had become a project for a few members of the Adventist Men in the church is now drawing income through a pay bill and the money has made a difference especially during the corona period when the country experienced a lockdown and the people did not attend the church services in compliance to the MOH protocols.

The church parking is located at a safe location where people who own cars in the neighboring flats prefer to leave their cars overnight because of safe parking owing to the hired security. Previously, it was alleged that the parking fees was peanuts to a point that the money could not pay for the security
