Three car occupants arrested with bhang worth millions

Police in Isebania have confiscated bhang with a street value of Sh. 3 million along Isebania-Migori highway.

            According to the police the bhang was headed to Nairobi via Kisii-Narok highway and is believed to be originating from a neighboring country.

            Isebania police moved swiftly after a public tip-off at about 05’00 hours that a motor vehicle make Toyota Raum registration number KCP 837N was transporting the outlawed drug.

            Confirming the incident Migori County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich said the vehicle was intercepted by police officers at Sirori Simba Area along Isebania-Nyametaburo feeder road.

            The three occupants were arrested and are assisting police in the investigation. They include Richard Nyangau Misiani, 24, the driver of the vehicle, Stephen Kengele, 32 and Zachariah Mwita Wandwi.

            Commissioner Cherutich said police officers searched the vehicle and recovered two sacks of bhang in form of brooms weighing 100kgs with a street value of Sh 3 million.

            He said the vehicle is being detained at the station yard in Isebania police station and the three suspects are in police custody waiting to be arraigned in court.

            The County Commissioner maintained that the government is using the malt-agency approach to deal with cross border insecurity challenges which include drugs trafficking and other forms of illegal trade especially at porous border points.

            He said the government’s entire security agencies and non-government actors are joining hands to crack down on the import of outlawed drugs which will ruin many the lives of the youth.

            Cherutich confirmed the efforts of the Border Patrol Unit, Immigration Officers, Kenya Coast Guards, and the National police service in dealing with cross border challenges.
