Residents of Nyanza advised to register as voters

Residents of Nyanza region have been urged to register as voters as the 2022 elections approaches.

Awendo legislator Walter Owino said it was regrettable that thousands of people from the Nyanza region lacked identity cards and voters’ cards.

Owino said the situation had contributed to perennial poor performance of their preferred presidential candidate.

The MP urged the political leaders from the region to mobilize people to register as voters. He cautioned the youths against being misused by politicians to cause chaos.

On his part the Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang condemned the actions by a section of youths who attempted to disrupt Raila Odinga’s Building Bridges initiative campaigns at Githurai. He claimed some politicians hired goons to disrupt their meetings.

Nyando legislator Jared Okelo asked the security team to move swiftly to apprehend those who were involved in unleashing the chaos.

Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris also condemned the violence in Githurai. She added that some Tanga Tanga allied leaders planned the Githurai mayhem in total disrespect to ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Her Homa Bay County counterpart Gladys Wanga urged the residence of Nyanza to stand strong and support the BBI process.

She said ODM stood for peaceful politics in the spirit of handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga
