Nominated deputy governor for Nyamira vetted

Nyamira County assembly’s appointment committee has vetted nominated Deputy Governor (DG) Dr. James Gesami on Friday to assess his suitability for the office.

During the vetting proceedings, Dr. Gesami said as former legislator in West Mugirango Constituency for 10 years, he has an exemplary performance track record, thus was confident that if approved, he would steer development projects for the people.

Speaker of the County Assembly, Moffat Teya while vetting the nominee tasked him to explain some of the petitions against him concerning corruption deals while in office as MP for West Mugirango where over Sh1 Million was allegedly deposited in his account for personal use.

“The petitions were investigated and the assigned Judge acquitted me, while the current one is just a civil suit and not criminal, the reason why EACC cleared me,” Dr. Gesami explained.

George Mosiori, a nominated Assembly member asked the nominee ways in which he is to ensure mutual coordination between him and the Governor, if approved to be sworn in.

The DG nominee stated that he will deploy dialogue with his boss before making decisions, so that the differences and misunderstandings are reduced to curb unwarranted political and power tension amongst the people of Nyamira.

The County assembly appointment committee will write a report concerning Dr. Gesami’s appropriateness for the office, then the County Assembly will vote on Tuesday to determine whether he will be sworn as DG on Wednesday.
